Seriously, though, while the Tampa death metal scene was a bit before my time, a lot of underground and heavy music really does bring joy to a lot of folks. It's cathartic, too, to just rip into one's emotions in a safe space with other people who understand and work to make sure everyone is safe. But after a while, you become acclimated to it and can start to appreciate it.
